Water is Life is a 100% non-profit fundraising campaign with the sole objective of funding water wells to directly benefit some of the world’s poorest people in rural Ethiopia.
We build sustainable wells through our non-profit partner, A Glimmer of Hope (AGOH), a reputable charitable organization with more than 10 years of experience and 6.700 successful water projects in Ethiopia.
To-date Water is Life has funded 19 wells in various parts of the country.
3 Reasons for Ethiopia
Ethiopia is one of the world's poorest countries and 80% of all diseases are a result of dirty water. Each year more than 250,000 children under the age of five die from diarrhea.
By supplying desperately needed clean water, the well will save women and children from walking 3-5 hours a day to collect contaminated water and will help protect against disease.
Young girls will have a chance to go to school and be safe instead of spending their days searching for water.
3 Reasons for "A Glimmer of Hope"
100% of all donations to A Glimmer of Hope go directly to funding the projects because AGOH's own endowment pays all the operating overhead.
AGOH listens to and partners with local communities in Ethiopia to build and maintain projects, ensuring sustainability of the wells.
We have been to Ethiopia several times and seen with our own eyes the amazing transformation in communities that have benefited from AGOHs work. Our most recent trip to Ethiopia took place in June 2012.
Supporting "Water is Life"
Through photos, videos and GPS coordinates, AGOH lets us know how our contributions are transforming lives in Ethiopia. Water is Life gathers this information and sends e-mail updates throughout the year on the projects we complete together and the lives touched by it.
